Episode 352: Don't Come Around Here No More

Well we may not have done Tom Petty proud but we did a good job talking about the theme of the show! It was a lively conversation and a fun time.

Sometimes people just have to be told when they're not welcome. In this episode, we're going to look at a variety of areas where people have had that message delivered in a number of interesting ways.

Episode 349: Some People Need Help

In contrast to last week's episode, this one hit on all cylinders and we were able to have a good, solid discussion about the various connotations to "needing help." These ranged from the "bless their heart" concept to legislative action to areas that truly do need a considered level of assistance.

We even started to talk about an article that was in the "extra reading" list (sorry about that, I couldn't continue on the nudist camp conversation) and brought up a local primary election for me that had me picking based on some very limited information.

There are different connotations of the phrase, "need help." In this episode we're going to explore a few of those. We've got articles looking at outrageous statements, strange mandates and areas where assistance is truly needed. Keeping with the changes there's no "fun" opening article, things are too important this week and the absurd can sometimes get in the way.

Episode 341: Yeah, They Went There

Man, when I say that we went there, we went all the way there! This episode covers the map including subjects that were and were not included on our article list. We hit on presidential candidates, computer games, the belly-button inspection (aka Selfie) trend among American citizens... and even some of the things we meant to.

Sometimes we look at something and ask, "did they really 'go there'?" This generally means that whoever was talking or writing took the thought to an unexpected conclusion or thread. We do this a lot with our friend Joesf, actually! Tonight we're going to look at some articles outlining where the political left has been taking things. We'll see if they garner similar responses.

These extra articles are also sources of ire for a variety of reasons.

Another good episode and good news for me, the term is over for my MBA and I can de-stress and get back on track with posting these episodes on time!  In some ways our conversation was stereotypical, however there were some interesting thought items as well. Let us know what you think.

Obama won in 2008 on a mantra of change. These days, democrats just seem to be changing anything they don't like or agree with. In this episode we're going to be looking at a wide range of subjects. We can expect to be different the next time we find them on our discussion list.

Episode 321: Selective Prosecution and Enforcement

This episode almost got me in trouble! Not from anything I said but because it got a bit lound and I had to raise my voice. We had a lot of interaction with callers and folks participating in TalkShoe and SecondLife! We actually stayed on topic more often than not and there are some good learning moments amongst the laughter.

In our last episode we talked about folks that were legitimately using different systems and concepts in unexpected ways. In this one we look at some instances where people are trying to use the system selectively for their own gain. We're going to discuss these and their impact on both the Rule of Law and the American psyche.

Thanks to your support, we are on the air with Boost Radio Network! Listen in 7-8pm on Wednesday nights. This does not mean that our fundraising campaign is done though, as we still have three more quarters to fully fund. If you would like to donate use the link on the right hand side of the site. Episode 312: Follow the Power, Follow the Money

This was a bit more sedate of an episode. These happen from time to time, the subject is a solid one and the information is good. There are some areas where Joesf and I had different takes on an item, especially with the budget bill that was recently passed by the House.

We've officially launched our funding campaign to join the Boost Network in January! If you want to help take the podcast to the next level, please click the "GoFundMe" button on the right.

A common phrase that is used in political conversation is, "follow the money." It's more than that in today's environment, we also have to, "follow the power." In this episode we look at a number of articles where we need to follow the power and sometimes follow the money.

We have launched a fundraising campaign to take our podcast to the next level. The final goal of this campaign is $1,850 and will allow us to join the Boost Radio Network. This represents a huge change for us and we're excited to see the results. If you would like to donate use the link on the right hand side of the site. Articles for Episode 299: Mind Your Own House Part 2

There's the phrase, "Mind Your Own House," which is typically uttered to someone that is too busy calling out the failings of another while their own situation isn't much better. We seem to be in that state in the US now. We are continuing the conversation around Mark Levin's proposed Liberty Amendments and some news stories that fit in neatly with his suggestions.

Episode 294: They Think They Know

We had a fun time talking about what people thought they knew… on a variety of different issues. In most of the cases the concensus was that the people involved didn't think much beyond the "good idea".

One thing I mentioned in the intro that I want to reiterate here in text. That is your opportunity to be a part of the podcast. We don't care where you are or your "stated political leanings" so long as you're willing to join in the conversation and keep things civil. Our podcast isn't strictly about the East Coast, nor does everyone that participates have to be a conservative! If you feel you've got something to add and can verbalize it well, feel free to call in.

The recommended book for this week is "Sh-t My Dad Says" by Justin Halpern. It's an interesting look and a reminder to delve beyond the gruff exterior of people around us. Despite what Joesf says in the recording, we're not sponsored by Rosetta Stone... as funny as the bit was!

I have long thought that most government actions, especially when it comes to domestic policy, start with a nugget of good will or a good idea and then becomes corrupted as it makes its way through the system. In this episode we're going to be examining the actions that could cause such changes to happen to a good idea as to make them profoundly bad.

Episode 251: Looks Pretty Bad

Well, as usual we didn't make it through all of the articles - actually, we didn't make it beyond the Kooks Among Us segment.  I tried but it just wasn't in the cards or the conversation this week.  Tom Clement of rposl.org joined in as the co-host and then we were also joined by Joesf as well as an unexpected visit from my mom!

Originally I wanted to do an all "tinfoil hat" episode this time but other news prevailed. There are things out there that don't look good, for both parties. This episode is going to be broken into two segments.
  1. Kooks Among Us:
  2. Bad News for Obama:
There were a lot of other things in the news this week. Some of them could have fit in the theme of the show but there isn't enough room to cover every one! Feel free to bring up any of these in the comments section.

Episode 234: Spending, Taxing, Voting and Revenge

It's been another very busy week for me so getting the show posted was late - again.  Hopefully after things get a bit more settled in for the summer schedule we'll get back on track for posting the episodes.  The recording schedule is spot-on, every Sunday night at 8:30pm, and you can listen to episodes as they're being made... even be a part of them if you like!  Other distribution channels, such is iTunes and Red State Talk Radio, are updated on Sunday nights as well.

In this episode we had a ton of fun with special guest David Oatney, who called in and joined the chorus of call-in guests.  We had something of a round-table with the various issues and still managed to make folks chuckle here and there at the same time!

Ken's back this week and as usual we didn't make it through all of the articles but we had a lot of good conversation about the concepts of the "seriousness of the charge" as well as the cop-outs provided by "zero tolerance policies."
