Episode 363: Beginning to End

No comments:
This was a great summary show for us and for the year. There was also a big announcement that folks will start to see beginning tomorrow. Yes, I'm late on this episode and yes I have a good excuse. Two of them actually…

First, it's New Years and work is super busy. Second, it's the end of the line for our podcast under the title of "East Coast Conservative Podcast". Beginning with the first episode of 2015, there are a number of changes that are going to happen:

  • Show Title is changing to the Front Porch Politics Show.
  • Recording time will be starting at 9:00pm instead of 8:30pm.
  • Work is beginning on integration with a sponsorship model for content.  The more sponsors we get, the more content we can produce.

Click Here to download the podcast, or listen using the Blubrry player (the blue ball on the right of the page).

Thank you so much for continuing to support the show!  I'm making these changes "in-place" in order to keep the history of the East Coast Conservative Podcast alive but there will be a new site and other resources released as soon as New Year's Insanity is done with.

We would be remiss not to look back at the events of 2014 in this last episode of the year. Things aren't looking positive but they need to be remembered.

Episode 357: Hearing Something Different

No comments:
There were some new things said and some great conversation points in this episode! We had a lot of fun trying not to say the same things that the other shows are.

I mentioned during the show but I'll put it here as well… we are taking a break next weekend. This means that our next scheduled episode will be the Sunday before Thanksgiving.  That should put us to the start of the new season as well!

We end our show with the tag, "different words in a different order." In this episode we're going to look at articles that break stereotypes in some cases and enforce them in others. It's going to be a fun conversation!

Articles for this episode:
(Edit:) One of our listeners also brought this up in an email to me at the same time that I was putting together the show.  We'll look at this article as well: GOP official goes off on NAACP for ignoring Mia Love and Tim Scott

This week's "extra articles" are truly worth reading! I wish I had time or a subject that I could include them in so please, if you have comments on these share them!

Episode 347: Jumping the Shark

No comments:
We managed to talk about jumping the shark without doing so ourselves (unless you count the madlibs, I don't). It was fun but if you're Obama-sensitive you might want to turn away. There are a lot of interesting nuggets, including mentioning of an NPR story about the EU's regulation on vacuum cleaners and Happy Days.

For those of you who missed the MadLib during the recording, here are the results:
A recent scary poll shows that the majority of people are terrified of public governing.  They would rather walk across burning jacobites or swim in goat-infested waters than give a speech in front of nuns.  This hearty fear can be overcome in five easy voters:
1. Organize all of your gym teachers on a piece of plank.
2. Remember to start your speech with a funny Senator.
3. When speaking, look your audience straight in the feet and speak in a strong and stupid voice.
4. Be simple.  Never use damaged words that are over the audiences eyes.
5. Always keep a pitcher of mercury next to you, in case your shin goes dry.

Articles for Episode 347: Jumping the Shark

No comments:
The concept of Jumping the Shark is used when a production does something extraordinary in order to attract attention but instead signals its decline. The phrase came from the Happy Days episode in which Fonzie literally jumped a shark in a stunt.

These days, the term applies to almost anything and tonight we're going to look at politicians that have been doing an excellent job at it.

Episode 343: Are They Thinking

No comments:
I think we put our grey matter, abused or not, to the task of this episode's discussion. Ken wasn't able to join us but the rest of the gang and I were able to pull on anyway.  We managed to talk about atheism, torture and Joe Biden among other things.

Episode 323: Gearing Up Again

No comments:
This was an interesting episode, and by that I mean that it followed the initial plan of episodes. What made it interesting was the disagreements and in some cases heated exchanges that came out in response to some of the articles. Never let it be said that everyone on the call always agrees... but then again if we were all robots there wouldn't be anything to talk about!

Articles for Episode 323: Gearing Up Again

No comments:
It seems that the media can't wait for the 2014 elections to be done in order to start talking about 2016. We're going to oblige them and talk about the different candidates and incumbents and what they're talking about. There's also the current administration's foreign policy to discuss as things are gearing up for another showdown of mismatched wits.

Articles for this episode:
Not a lot of articles for this week but some that didn't make the main list. Here are the rest

Episode 308: Reassuring Words

No comments:
Quite a trip down the metaphysical path tonight. We spent a lot of time talking about the Atheist megachurch and referencing the article about the athiest chaplain story from the past. We also discussed the statements made by John Kerry about the truthfulness of the President and related it to the fact that polls are now showing the American public disagree, at least where the Affordable Care Act is concerned.

Episode 306: Doubling Down

No comments:
The politicians are doubling down and so are we! We had a lively discussion in this episode that included lots of laughs and some serious moments as well.

One of the interesting questions raised by Larry is what's going to happen in the future to the people pushing some of these questionable agendas. Sadly we can only assume the answer for the moment will be, "nothing."

Articles for Episode 306: Doubling Down

No comments:
Given the season and the recent political events, you might expect that folks might take a bit of a breather. You'd be wrong. Politicians from both sides of the aisle are doubling down on their stances. In some cases they're bringing more evidence and in others they're standing by their claims. There are even some that are backpedaling to revise what they said to match reality.

In this episode we're going to be discussing a few different items that give examples of this. It's always an interesting discussion and we hope you can join us any Sunday night at 8:30pm eastern! Articles for this episode:

Episode 287: Twisted Reality

No comments:
A lively conversation from the start! Some of us were worried that the strange tales our articles explained would make heads melt while others said it was nothing out of the ordinary. Take a listen for yourself and decide which!

My apologies for the late posting. The end of the school year has had our schedules a bit twisted.

Articles for Episode 287: Twisted Reality

As the news week started for this episode, I felt my reality getting turned upside down. The articles for this episode reflect some of the reasons for that. We've got examples of people sounding like their ideological opposites and a view of legal rights that downright scary.

Episode 251: Looks Pretty Bad

No comments:
Well, as usual we didn't make it through all of the articles - actually, we didn't make it beyond the Kooks Among Us segment.  I tried but it just wasn't in the cards or the conversation this week.  Tom Clement of rposl.org joined in as the co-host and then we were also joined by Joesf as well as an unexpected visit from my mom!

As the box says at the top of the site, we're comping to the end of the nomination period for the 8th annual People's Choice Podcast Awards.  Please take the time to collect their 22 favorite podcasts (hopefully this is one of them) and nominate them for an award!  Nominations are open until October 15th and you can only cast one ballot.  We're asking for your nominations in the "Peoples Choice" and "Politics / News" categories.

Articles for Episode 251: Looks Pretty Bad

No comments:
Originally I wanted to do an all "tinfoil hat" episode this time but other news prevailed. There are things out there that don't look good, for both parties. This episode is going to be broken into two segments.
  1. Kooks Among Us:
  2. Bad News for Obama:
There were a lot of other things in the news this week. Some of them could have fit in the theme of the show but there isn't enough room to cover every one! Feel free to bring up any of these in the comments section.
