Front Porch Political Talk Episode 17: Setting the Stage

No comments:
The stage was set for a fun episode and I think we delivered on that promise. As usual we did not make it through all of the articles but we did have fun discussing the ones we got to.  I think one of the best aspects of our round-table is that the opinions shared cover a range of viewpoints.  This can be seen during our discussion regarding the Baltimore "protests".

Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #16: It's a Duck

No comments:
We've all heard the saying about how to tell if something is what it seems. In this episode we are looking at some articles that remove all doubt that things are as they actually seem. It should be an interesting array of items to discuss.

Front Porch Political Talk Episode 9: Forcing Their Opinions

No comments:
Another episode, another great conversation! We didn't agree on every issue and that's okay because we talked about the articles withot requiring everyone to be in lock-step. We spent a lot of time talking about Bitcoin and the regulation of that as well as how Planet Fitness might have caused some angst in its own customer base. Those weren't the only things on the agenda, so listen in to hear the whole show!

Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #9: Forcing Their Opinions

No comments:
When looking at the news there are times when it's painfully obvious that agendas and opinions are being pushed. In this episode we are focusing on articles that show this in a number of different ways.

There has been an unexpected change for the podcast's presence in Second Life. We say goodbye to Sunset River as the home of the Republican Party of SL and hello to a consolidated location on Cheertopia. Outside of SL we are also finalizing the options for folks to subscribe using either Patreon or Joyride. Articles for this episode:

Front Porch Political Talk Episode 8: Do We Really Want Change?

No comments:
So we had great conversation about whether or not folks really do want change.  From that discussion the answer is yes with an asterisk.  That asterisk is because the people that have to be elected work very hard to ensure that they stay elected, even if that means not taking true action on the things that they talk about "fixing."

Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #8: Do We Really Want Change?

No comments:
There's been a lot of talk about changing things and fixing problems but it seems like a lot of people don't truly want this to happen. In this episode we are going to look at a number of examples of this based on CPAC and other actions from the past week.

We're also moving forward with the website changeover, some updates in Second Life and additional items.  A plan for three main sponsorship levels is being worked on with very affordable membership levels.  Once those are does we'll share them with everyone.

Front Porch Political Talk Episode 2: Serious Ponderings and Noise

No comments:
Well, it seems that of my articles we didn't have a whole lot of noise. It was an energetic conversation to say the least!

Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #2: Serious Ponderings and Noise

No comments:
As we continue the transition into the new podcast, we take an episode to once again try and vet the important articles from those that are just so much more frothing at the mouth. To assist with this process we've got articles from both sides and are going to work on better identifying distinguishing characteristics during the show.

We are still working on the site and my own schedule has not lent itself to implementing comprehensive site changes yet. Thank you again for your patience as we make the shift to the new show. Articles for this episode:

Episode 361: More Poor Choices

No comments:
I am not going to make the same poor choice I have for the past two episodes and think, "it's late, I'll post this later." We talked about some interesting poor decisions that have been made, some of them more than once. There were also some interesting tangents taken during the conversation. I swear I'm going to forward my emails to Joesf at some point in the future!

Articles for Episode 361: More Poor Choices

No comments:
I'll admit it, anyone can make poor choices. When you're in the political "eye" those bad ideas can and will come back to haunt you. In this episode we're going to look at some recent decisions that will be regretted… in some cases sooner rather than later! We also talked about these back in June of this year with Episode 338 (Poor Choices).

As mentioned on the show, we're going to be pushing our Facebook page more this year. We are also asking folks to support us by listening to the show on Red State Talk Radio or Stitcher.com. Articles for this episode:

Episode 358: Like a Bad Rerun

No comments:
While the themes repeated, the content was somewhat unique. We had a good time after our hiatus talking about issues that come up again and again.

I did it again and I apologize! The time slipped away from me this week in terms of getting the show updated. There is also a tidbit here, we're recording this week on Saturday not Sunday so watch the Talkshoe site for the schedule.

I'd like to say that we're going to be talking about new things in this episode. Instead we're going to be looking at things that keep popping up like a bad sitcom re-run. Let's take on these media tropes like adults and have some fun!

Episode 357: Hearing Something Different

No comments:
There were some new things said and some great conversation points in this episode! We had a lot of fun trying not to say the same things that the other shows are.

I mentioned during the show but I'll put it here as well… we are taking a break next weekend. This means that our next scheduled episode will be the Sunday before Thanksgiving.  That should put us to the start of the new season as well!

Articles for Episode 357: Hearing Something Different

We end our show with the tag, "different words in a different order." In this episode we're going to look at articles that break stereotypes in some cases and enforce them in others. It's going to be a fun conversation!

Articles for this episode:
(Edit:) One of our listeners also brought this up in an email to me at the same time that I was putting together the show.  We'll look at this article as well: GOP official goes off on NAACP for ignoring Mia Love and Tim Scott

This week's "extra articles" are truly worth reading! I wish I had time or a subject that I could include them in so please, if you have comments on these share them!

Articles for Episode 356: Learning and Promises

No comments:
On this final weekend before the 2014 mid-term elections, politicians are promising some wild things and people are learning more about what's actually going on in our country. In this episode we're going to talk about just a few of those things that are popping up in the news. Without a doubt there are more items than this!

This Tuesday is election day for the 2014 mid-terms as well as local races. Please take the time to vote and educate yourself as much as possible on the issues and where those applying to represent you on them stand.

Episode 349: Some People Need Help

No comments:
In contrast to last week's episode, this one hit on all cylinders and we were able to have a good, solid discussion about the various connotations to "needing help." These ranged from the "bless their heart" concept to legislative action to areas that truly do need a considered level of assistance.

We even started to talk about an article that was in the "extra reading" list (sorry about that, I couldn't continue on the nudist camp conversation) and brought up a local primary election for me that had me picking based on some very limited information.
