Episode 323: Gearing Up Again

This was an interesting episode, and by that I mean that it followed the initial plan of episodes. What made it interesting was the disagreements and in some cases heated exchanges that came out in response to some of the articles. Never let it be said that everyone on the call always agrees... but then again if we were all robots there wouldn't be anything to talk about!

It seems that the media can't wait for the 2014 elections to be done in order to start talking about 2016. We're going to oblige them and talk about the different candidates and incumbents and what they're talking about. There's also the current administration's foreign policy to discuss as things are gearing up for another showdown of mismatched wits.

Episode 319: Godless

There are episodes that go exactly according to plan and there are ones that go more along the way this one did. I didn't even try to keep things on topic because the conversation was still really good. Unfortunately we barely scratched the articles or the premise. That may be a good thing or a bad thing, I'll leave it for the audience to decide. No matter what we did have a good conversation and a lot of participation. We even had to stay on our good behavior after my mom called in!

No matter how you look at it, respect for the religious beliefs of citizens is sorely lacking in this administration. Tonight we are going to discuss a number of articles that are hilighted by a statement made by, of all people, Russian President Vladimir Putin. There are plenty of examples of this and there are plenty of others that we've discussed in the past. Given the time, there are some off-topic items that we'll look at as well. Thanks to your support, this episode will be our first to air on the Boost Radio Network! We will be playing from 7-8pm on Wednesday nights and look forward to a strong working relationship with the hosts. This does not mean that our fundraising campaign is done though, as we still have three more quarters to fully fund. If you would like to donate use the link on the right hand side of the site. Episode 318: Fundamental Concepts

Even with the hardware failures and short notice on the article list, this episode went quite well!  We talked about a number of things including the Tea Party, the concept of social decay and even had an, "eye of the beholder" moment with one of the articles.  Definitely worth the listen!

Every now and then we have to look at some of the fundamental concepts around political ideologies and where they are being touted or hidden.

The show notes, however, are going to be delayed.  This is due to a hardware failure and loss of the prep-work that I normally do for a podcast.  Even with this setback the show will go on!  This post will be updated as I am able to rebuild that work and provide links for the episode.

Episode 315: Freezing Out

Suffice to say that there was nothing frosty about this episode beyond the weather references and the points that we were trying to make. There were also come interesting learning points about the history of education and the impact that it has on the perception of students about America's past. The weather also had an impact on the posting of this episode. We're thawing out now!

We're extremely close to reaching our goal of joining the Boost radio network! We only need to get to $400 to fully fund the first quarter's participation. If you want to help take the podcast to the next level, please click the "GoFundMe" button on the right. If we do not make the goal then the money is going to be used to improve the podcast in some way, so don't think that your donation is going to just be lost.

The news seems to be tied to the weather these days, with frigid temperatures and a cold political scene (though those could be reversed). In this episode we're going to look at ways that conservative voices and the words of those that want to see something more than gridlock or status-quo are being treated. There are also examples where the left seems to be hogging the spotlight with sadistic glee. Hopefully we can bolster some ways to address the discrepancy.

While our fundraising campaign did not meet the level needed to join the Boost radio network for the first quarter, the fundraiser is still on! We are in discussions with the network about an abridged quarter, so the push is still on! If you would like to donate use the link on the right hand side of the site. Episode 314: Reviewing the Year

This was an interesting review of the year with some new news, some old news and a bit of a diversion. We ended up spending time talking about the upcoming year's TV shows and what they represent in our country. Ken wasn't able to make the show due to a traffic jam but he did make it home safe and sound.

We've officially launched our funding campaign to join the Boost Network in January! We have a few days left to get to the first goal of $400 in order to officially join the network. If you want to help take the podcast to the next level, please click the "GoFundMe" button on the right. It's the last episode of the year and we're taking the time to look at some of the larger items that hit our discussions in 2013. There are new elements to some and reminders that others are still unresolved. This promises to be an interesting episode all around!

Our fundraising campaign to take our podcast to the next level is still going! We are still shy of the $400 needed to make the first quarter in order to join the Boost Radio Network. This represents a huge change for us and we're excited to see the results. If you would like to donate use the link on the right hand side of the site. Episode 313: Speaking What We Believe

Merry Christmas! The days seemed to get away from me posting this episode to the site and for that I apologize. This was a much more lively episode and we had a lot to discuss. It's interesting to listen to the agreements and disagreements even among our own callers. For example, Larry asked what good it did to bring up Mark Levin's comment about the Republican party and Ken was there to disagree with him and point out that it's a valid complaint. This was a thought-provoking show in a few different ways

With the blow-back on the Phil Robertson "Duck Dynasty" comments this past week, I thought it would be good for us to talk about the impacts of speaking what we believe. We're going to take it from a slightly different vantage point. We're going to talk about what we believe, what we see liberals and those considered mainstream republican and the reflection on their beliefs.

Our fundraising campaign to take our podcast to the next level is in full swing! The final goal of this campaign is $1,850 and will allow us to join the Boost Radio Network. This represents a huge change for us and we're excited to see the results. If you would like to donate use the link on the right hand side of the site. Episode 305: Compliance Factor

Happy Halloween! My apologies again on the delay of posting the episode. I should be back on my regular posting schedule starting with the next episode.  We made it through more of the articles and had a good discussion, the biggest question of compliance seems to be with some newly enacted laws.  I also have to share that, given the opening article, my son is going at Darth Vader for Halloween.

After talking about the concepts of the "Thought Police" last week, I thought it would be fitting to take a look at some areas where compliance is necessary. This necessity is driven either by requirement or in some cases common sense. In this episode we'll be looking at quite a few different items that have been brought up over the past few weeks, not all of them health care related.

Episode 304: Thought Police

This had to be one of the more vocal episodes that we've had in a while. Definitely on-topic and thought provoking! We didn't manage to make it through most of the examples and some of them appear to be, "business as usual." We also were thrilled to welcome Naj back to the show after a bit of a hiatus.

One of the things that is said constantly on this show is that people should make their own decisions about what's going on in the country and whether it's a good or bad thing. Apparently there are those that would prefer it not be that way. In this episode we're going to talk about their attempts to convince, sway or force the American public to look at events though their particular lens. Articles for this episode:
Those that watch our Twitter feed at ECConservative will notice that not all of the articles tweeted over the past week are showing up here this time. We had something of a "twittersplosion" and the articles below are the more relevant (or less repetitive) of the activity.

Episode 303: Cracks in the Facade

Yet again we have a case of an episode post lagging the recording by a week... I have plenty of reasons but again I apologize.  Maybe I should take a pay cut...

It turns out that folks didn't really disagree with the premise of this episode, that more and more of the American public are starting to see through the cracks at what's really going on in Washington.

Articles for Episode 303: Cracks in the Façade

There is so much media coverage about the failing health care websites and continued shutdown that we're going to be looking at other things in this episode. We're looking deeper, past the posturing and endless press conferences at some of the signs that the government is starting to crack.

Be sure, there are those stalwarts that will stick to their… positions. There are also articles that are coming out showing very disturbing events that, if done by anyone else, would generate calls for termination if not prison time. Their façade is starting to crack all over the place and even their usual cheerleaders can't patch everything up. Articles for this episode:

Tonight we are joined by a special guest, Assemblywoman Jane Corwin. Mrs. Corwin will be talking with us tonight about a variety of issues including the New York SAFE Act, Jobs, the New York economy and more. Along with the interview there are a number of other items that I've included in the show notes. We may or may not get to them, it all depends on the interview and the conversation around it. Articles for this episode:

More about Jane Corwin:

Jane Lewis Corwin was elected to the New York State Assembly on November 4, 2008 and represents what is now the 144th Assembly District.

Jane is a proud full-time mother of three, Melanie, Kellie and Will, and, like any mother, she wants to give our children the best opportunity for a successful future in any endeavors they which to pursue. She continues to work tirelessly in representing the voice of her community in Albany so our children have those opportunities and are not forced to relocate due to a struggling economic and business climate.

Since being elected in 2008, Jane has stood firm in her message of fiscal conservatism, accountability for lawmakers, and focusing on growing our upstate economy by supporting small businesses.

As time marches on, one thing that has to be considered by any organization is how it can expand membership for the future. Tonight we have a special guest, Mike Garcar, Field Director for the Ohio College Republican Federation. We'll be talking with him about the challenges that the GOP faces reaching out to the millennial generation.

We've also got our regular round of articles that we'll be discussing, hopefully with Mike joining us to add his perspective, so it's going to be a busy show!
