Episode 280: Communication Necessities

Administrative comment: Continually apologizing for the late posts and then posting late the following week is getting a tad repetitive, so I'll explain rather than make excuses. There are some big things being planned for the podcast as well as a new endeavor. Nothing is going to change for quite some time (in Internet terms of time, at least), however if you're a blogger, podcaster or vodcaster that is interested in hearing more about the rumblings of an interesting project, contact me directly.

This week we talked about the things necessary for a good, civil conversation. We also identified the real definition of the concept and also what it is not. Civility does not equate with watering down or with changing a message just to make it palatable to a wide audience. If you want to hear more, listen to the podcast!

There are some required aspects for effective communication, whether the subject is politics, the weather or a shopping list. In this episode we're going to look at some news articles that are examples of where these are noticeably missing from one side or the other. Well, this episode did run a bit off plan, however there was a lot of good conversation!  Instead of starting off right away with the normal flow of things, we began our show talking about the results of the Egyptian election.

Okay, so the truth can sometimes be scary, especially when it reveals something other than what is considered politically correct or popular. Here we have a group of articles that point out the truth that some people would rather have avoided.
There were a lot of other articles that came up, including some interesting slants on the Occupy activities and official reactions and actions to them. They didn't make the list but of course we link to them in case you want to read them.

Our country is on a downward spiral no matter how you look at it. You can look at economics, social issues, foreign policy and even the way the media is reporting things and see desperation on the part of the left. In this episode we start looking at some of the contenders on the GOP side that are working hard to revive America.

Tonight was a fun show with a lot of audience input!  A special thank you to all of those who take the time to join us for our recording process!

Well, the guys on the Hill managed to postpone a shutdown after a week of media frenzy, finger pointing and crying talk show hosts.  In this episode we talk about some of the things that were going on at the same time and give a touch of time to the finer points of the shutdown discussion.

We had a lot of fun and a lot of “seg way’s” during the podcast!  We also announced an upcoming special show - on May 11, time yet to be determined, at the Conservatives On The Move inaugural event in Franklin, Tn.  More details to come, including a visit from our good friend David Oatney to talk about the event.

Tonight marks the beginning of our third year in the podcast! We celebrate by recording the show late and praying that everything comes together... which is how things started in the first place. Rather than ponder the past, we're looking at some current issues that are pushing more buttons with the general public.

There is one slight logistical correction to what was said in the show. I invited folks to come back and join us for the first show in our third year. I'll blame it on being tired or just not paying attention - it will be the first episode in our fourth year!

Is Obama a Muslim?

By SecondLife Author QWERTY Beeswing

Obama’s religious affiliation has been a question since the beginning of his campaign for president. He claims to be a Christian but is that what we are seeing? Jesus Christ said, “By their fruits, ye shall know them.” If this is true then what can we make of the fruits in Obama’s life? What are his actions telling us?
There are several things that would lead us to believe that Obama is not a true Christian. His support for abortion and other things in society that are in strong contrast with Biblical teachings. These are hints to his lack of Christian faith. In June of 2006 he made reference to “The Sermon on the Mount”,
"Which passages of Scripture should guide our public policy? Should we go with Leviticus, which suggests slavery is ok and that eating shellfish is abomination? How about Deuteronomy, which suggests stoning your child if he strays from the faith? Or should we just stick to the Sermon on the Mount - a passage that is so radical that it's doubtful that our own Defense Department would survive its application? So before we get carried away, let's read our bibles. Folks haven't been reading their bibles."

Here, not only is he insulting to Christians but he also implies that the thought of practical application of the Bible is ludicrous.
I don’t want to spend too much time disproving his Christian faith because I feel he does a good job of that on his own.
The real question is…is he Muslim?
Let’s look at some facts…
In February of 2007 Obama was interviewed by the New York Times. He stated that the Muslim call to prayer was “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth”.  He then recited it "with a perfect [Arabic] accent," according to The Times!!
September 8, 2008, Obama slips up while being interviewed by ABC's George Stephanopoulos. He says 'my Muslim faith' in the interview!!
Obama has of yet to attend one National Day of Prayer event since his election but he clearly spends time at the White House observing Muslim religious holidays and practices such as his recent hosting of an Iftar dinner breaking the Ramadan fast.
He bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia and then lied about it afterwards.
He spent somewhere in the ballpark of $23 million promoting Kenya’s new pro-abortion, pro-Sharia constitution. (Sharia Law is the same law that is practiced in most Muslim countries. Sharia law encourages the harsh treatment of women among other civil rights abuses.)
Obama has also made disturbing statements about the United States denying it is a Christian nation. “Whatever we once were, we are no longer a Christian nation.” He’s also been noted as saying the U.S. is “one of the largest Muslim nations in the world.”
A notable practice among Muslims is called taqiyya. This allows for total denial of the Muslim faith if necessary for Muslims while remaining faithful to Islam.
{A} problem concerning law and order {with respect to Muslims in dar al-harb} arises from an ancient Islamic legal principle — that of taqiyya, a word the root meaning of which is "to remain faithful" but which in effect means "dissimulation." It has full Quranic authority (3:28 and 16:106) and allows the Muslim to conform outwardly to the requirements of unislamic or non-Islamic government, while inwardly "remaining faithful" to whatever he conceives to be proper Islam, while waiting for the tide to turn. (Hiskett, Some to Mecca Turn to Pray, 101.)
Volume 4, Book 52, Number 269; Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah: The Prophet said, "War is deceit."
So you see…according to Islam he can deny his faith without consequence to deceive the infidel.
Over the few short months in office Obama has alienated Israel. Below is a verse from the Quran that gives instruction about relationships with Jews and Christians.
From the Quran - 5:51 O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for friends. They are friends one to another. He among you who ...taketh them for friends is (one) of them. Lo! Allah guideth not wrongdoing folk.
If he’s not a Muslim, as he says, he’s doing a pretty good job of convincing the American people otherwise!! We can’t possibly know in all certainty whether he is or is not Muslim but as Jesus said “By their fruits, ye shall know them.”
Click the link below to see a video compilation of some of Obama’s statements regarding Islam.

Okay, so there's a pastor in Gainesville that (as of the writing of this intro) may or may not have burned Korans yesterday. I get it, but there's so much more news out there! In tonight's show we are going to talk about that and what's below the fold.

The podcast will be recorded on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at 8:30pm Eastern Time.  You can listen to the live recording here or join us at http://www.talkshoe.com/tc/75570
