This episode turned out well despite TalkShoe's best efforts! There were some technical difficulties causing the live recording to be delayed and I had limited control until the end of the show. Regardless, we had a good time talking about the popular issues from the past week from a different angle.

Articles for Episode 281: Following the Same Rules
During the last episode I talked about keeping the conversation civil, not being insulting or defamatory and looking at examples of stories where that didn't happen. Those concepts only work if both sides are playing by the same rules. It's apparent that this isn't the case, as is pointed out in the articles for this episode. The question is, what do we do about that and how should it be addressed moving forward?

Episode 269: It Drives Me Crazy
The premise for this episode started with a book about pollution that flowed with waste about fecal matter and other things. From there, the show's content hilighted some examples of the mental sludge that passes for policy and position.

Episode 155: Pushing More Buttons
Tonight marks the beginning of our third year in the podcast! We celebrate by recording the show late and praying that everything comes together... which is how things started in the first place. Rather than ponder the past, we're looking at some current issues that are pushing more buttons with the general public.

Episode 51: Changing Course and Format but not Foundation
Tonight's show marks a change in the direction of the podcast. We are moving away from discussing news articles and leaving the campaigns alone. With the Obama victory, we as conservatives need to identify what we need to do to bring the Republican party back into power! In addition, we are going to examine the statements that are being made at change.gov and hold them up to the light. Tonight we brought in our new show format - we have decided based on traffic analysis and download counts that our audience wants to hear about conservative stances on issues! Our most popular shows by far have been those where we were talking about the issues, not when we were waxing eloquently about the failures or successes that were identified in the news. Each week, we will be taking about two or three main things. Tonight, we talked about the following things:
- Conservatism and it's place in the Republican Party - McCain and the "moderates" have done a wonderful job screwing up the GOP, now it's time to rebuild it. I agree with Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council when he says, that conservatives need to take back control of the GOP if the party is to return to its winning ways..
- We reviewed the statement made by Mr. Obama regarding "National Service" and how he used this platform to sway many young Americans to support him by promising them a college education. We also mentioned the quote by Mr. Emanuel (Mr. Obama's Chief of Staff) in his new book, which identified that "Anyone between the ages of 18 and 25 would be compelled into public service". Where does this make things stand when we then look at the text of the 13th Amendment?

Episode 47: Sudan Investigates Bradley's Episcopal Rainbow Cub Comments
Tonight was another case where we had a lot of news to cover and not enough time to cover it! Some of that might have to do with the fact that we took the time to discuss the issues to a greater extent than usual - but that's a good thing in this case, as it appears that the Mainstream Media doesn't have the time in the 24 hour news cycle to discuss anything other than campaign styles and the financial crisis! Thankfully there were quite a few folks in the SecondLife chat room that helped Ken and I discuss things that I haven't heard about elsewhere. Tonight we introduce our first sponsor! Blockbuster's Total Access package give you access to over 85,000 titles that can arrive in your mailbox in as little as a day! A quote I found particularly important from McCain's speech:
"If you find faults with our country, make it a better one. If you're disappointed with the mistakes of government, join its ranks and work to correct them. Enlist in our Armed Forces. Become a teacher. Enter the ministry. Run for public office. Feed a hungry child. Teach an illiterate adult to read. Comfort the afflicted. Defend the rights of the oppressed. Our country will be the better, and you will be the happier. Because nothing brings greater happiness in life than to serve a cause greater than yourself." - Sen. John McCain - Transcript of Gov. Palin's speech
She had a few stingers to deliver, here were my favorites:
"I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a "community organizer," except that you have actual responsibilities."
"We tend to prefer candidates who don't talk about us one way in Scranton and another way in San Francisco."
"And there is much to like and admire about our opponent. But listening to him speak, it's easy to forget that this is a man who has authored two memoirs but not a single major law or reform - not even in the state senate." - Gov. Sarah Palin

EPISODE 25: Civics Lessons and Candidate Issues
This week we took a break from our normal format to go over how the Federal government is supposed to work. We also wanted to talk about some of the issues that candidates are proposing and how they would actually deliver them as President. Ken and I were joined by Ken's friend Chris as well as Paul (The Voice) Stanton. We started off speaking about the basic structure of our government, staying on topic as much as possible with a lot of laughing and a few of my "McCain" moments. When we got to talking about how a bill becomes Law, we all had to remember that great School House Rock short - How a Bill Becomes a Law (redundant but I didn't write the title). Also discussed briefly was the concept of Ammendments and veto powers. Finally, we hit the issues... the promises that the candidates have made. According to NTU, Obama has promised $307 Billion in new spending, Hillary's at $226 Billion and McCain is at $6.8 Billion. We went through a short list of promises... some are amanzingly dumb, most are pure pandering and in most of the cases we couldn't come up with a simple way to know how the candidate would deliver. Links to each synopsis are on the same NTU page. We thank everyone for listening! If you like the show, please tell your friends. If you want to join in on the show, watch our home page for the recording schedule (traditionally every Sunday night at 8:30pm EST). You can become a part of the show!
