Episode 306: Doubling Down

The politicians are doubling down and so are we! We had a lively discussion in this episode that included lots of laughs and some serious moments as well.

One of the interesting questions raised by Larry is what's going to happen in the future to the people pushing some of these questionable agendas. Sadly we can only assume the answer for the moment will be, "nothing."

Given the season and the recent political events, you might expect that folks might take a bit of a breather. You'd be wrong. Politicians from both sides of the aisle are doubling down on their stances. In some cases they're bringing more evidence and in others they're standing by their claims. There are even some that are backpedaling to revise what they said to match reality.

In this episode we're going to be discussing a few different items that give examples of this. It's always an interesting discussion and we hope you can join us any Sunday night at 8:30pm eastern! Articles for this episode:

Episode 213: Heating Up in the Winter

This episode gave us a good chance to step back and take a look at what campaigns are doing on both sides of the aisle. We talked about Obama's moves that, from our lens look like pure political steps as well as some of the things being said or done by GOP candidates. The only one we didn't have a story for was Mitt, who didn't really make any headlines this week.

There's a lot going on in the news with the election, and this episode gives us a time to look at some of the articles that epitomise what the statements being made that are heating up the primary and eventual general elections. There's so much to talk about we're skipping our normal opening article! Here are the articles lined up for the conversation. Remember, some times we don't even make it through all of these!
Here are the stories that we couldn't fit in the line-up tonight, including what was supposed to be our fun opening story.

Episode 212: Making Decisions

We made the decision to talk about... making decisions. Am I sounding repetitive? This was a very lively episode with good audience participation in both Second Life and in Talkshoe. If you want to join us for a recording session, put us on your calendar for Sunday nights at 8:30pm!

Episode 206: So Many Bad Ideas, So Little Time

Well folks, this time the show definitely did not go where it was originally planned!  Oh sure, we got through the opening article with all of its puns and groans, but after that, a completely different topic took center stage.  Luckily, it still falls in line with the "Bad idea" theme of the episode so the title didn't change.  Most everything else did.

We talked about Internet Censorship, specifically, HR 3261, otherwise known as the "Stop Online Piracy Act" which is currently before the House Judiciary Committee and is expected to pass Congress as written.

Episode 181: New Tone My Toe

I'm really tired of hearing about the so-called "new tone" that is constantly promised by candidates during the campaign season.  In this episode we're going to talk about the lack of any change in tone in politics, regardless of who promised it.

Episode 171: Paying Attention to the Edges

It’s time again for us to look at the news stories that are being overshadowed by Japan, Lybia and the associated fallout.

Tonight was a fun show and an example of how Ken and I don’t always agree. We had fun talking about a number of different issues, pontificating the concepts of 2012 and got stuck on the concept of what to do about the Somali pirates.

Episode 125: Preferential Treatment

Some folks get it, some don't. This week's show features a series of articles showing examples of both. We've got firing squads, pirates, bankers and politicians all in on the act so you know it's going to be a fun time!

The show started a bit late but also ran a couple of minutes long - as anyone that has listened to the show for a while knows can happen any given Sunday!
