Articles for Episode 271: Challenging Times

There's no doubt that times are challenging for American citizens. The economy's bipolar approach to recovery, gun rights being challenged and educational standards in the tank. Tonight we're going to look at these issues in a bit more detail.

For this episode we have with us Bob Schulz and Judith Whitmore of We The People of New York. They have filed suit against the state of New York on the constitutionality and process related to the passing of the New York SAFE Gun Control Act. Learn more about their organization and petitions at WeThePeopleofNY.org.  You can read the press release about their lawsuit by clicking here.

Again, another short list of other articles. Definitely some that bear more conversation though.

Episode 265: Looking for the Reasons

This was a tough episode to put together, as can be seen with the flood of articles in the show notes page. We have our new listener and participant Naj to thank for the subject of tonight's show, trying to at least start a conversation on the reasons behind the violence that doesn't often make national headlines like the sensational stories do. It was an educational and encouraging conversation to say the least!

Episode 254: Prearing For the Future

We had a great time talking about the preparations being made to prepare for the possibility of a loss (or potentially win) by Obama.  Several interesting references to Star Wars were made.  We've got some interesting interviews lined up for next week, so keep tuned to the website for more info.  Also, we will be participating in a series of round-table calls on election night.  More information on that to follow tomorrow.

Just like those in the path of Frankenstorm, the left is preparing for the real possibility of an Obama loss on Tuesday. In this episode we look at some articles that point out where they are looking for the future.

Episode 253: A Growing Case

We coined a new Twitter hashtag in this episode... or at least it will be soon!  The Obama campaign's defenses have now brought back race as an issue with such vigor that it can no longer be called "Playing the Race Card."  This time they're pounding it so hard, I'm going to start tagging it with #RaceHammer because they're coming out like a barbarian wielding a double-headed sledgehammer!

Ken has returned from his hiatus and it was good to have him back on the call.  We talked about the reasons the Obama campaign is twisting, spinning and reaching for every angle in the campaign playbook and then brought out the things they're doing.

Looking at the polls, the "Mittmentum" (as Limbaugh coined it) is picking up! This makes the case that the Obama campaign is growing more and more desperate for every vote it can eke out. They're starting to pull out all the stops an it shows.

Here are the articles we're going to be discussing:
There is a lot beyond this going on in the news. Please take the time to read through some of the other stories for the week

Our founding documents afford the individal many protections, including concepts like free expression, religious worship and, "the pursit of happiness." In this episode we've got some interesting articles talking about the concepts of free speech and spending money. Join us for the recording session Sundays at 8:30pm on TalkShoe! Many of the "extra" articles actually fit the subject for the show. Unfortunately we can't fit them all in every week. Here are the other stories that caught our eye:

Episode 199: Not As I Does

It seems like the Administration has put a new patent on the old concept of, "do as I say, not as I do." Unfortunately, given the articles for this episode, the phrase comes out more like, "not as I does." The stories up for discussion tonight hilight some of the strange decisions and outright errors that are being made by the Obama administration.

Episode 193: Claims and Ammunition

There were some technical issues with this episode that delayed it from being released. Regular listeners will notice a difference in the audio quality, turns out my system decided not to use the fancy mixer and reverted to the internal microphone on my laptop for the show. I've corrected that for next week!

Some times in battle, the best move is to wait for the opponent to either implode or for their members to turn on them when the game changes pace. Then again, sometimes you have to take a serious look at your own side. Tonight we talk about the ammo being provided by politicians from both sides, and the insanity or opportunity it represents.

This episode, like many others, didn't make it through all of the articles for the evening. There were some particularly good points raised, and Bachmann's "$2 Gas" coupled with comments I heard on Bob Brinker's Money Talk about an economist suggesting that an executive order forcing all new federal fleet vehicles to run on natural gas would have just about that impact made for some interesting conversation.

Episode 191: Shocking Comments

In the wake of the signing of the debt deal, a lot of interesting comments have been made by members of both parties.  Tonight we're going to continue our conversation on the concepts of tone and words used and the impact they have on our nation.

What a fun show we had tonight!  Ken made it in for the introduction before his vacation schedule pulled him off the call, but we were joined by two of our regular listeners, TriSec - a "Boston Liberal" (his words, not mine) and Shoramin.  What followed was a fun discussion that included some serious conversation about what is going on in Washington.

Episode 182: Measuring Success

As things continue to ramp up for the 2012 election season, it helps to be able to look at the way things currently are and take stock.  In tonight's show we're going to look at what's working, what isn't and what's just plain silly in the current political landscape.

Quite a fun recording session with some great sound clips!  We went off the list a couple of times, including a reorder of the Morgan Freeman clip and another article that wasn't included in the list about Ladarious Jackson, an amazing recent graduate.

Here are the articles for the Episode 147.  We'll be recording live at 8:30pm Eastern if you want to join in.

We're almost a month away from the mid-term elections and it seems like every bit of new news on old things keeps crawling out.  We've got "Mad as Hell" Paladino, "I didn't do it" Democrats and "We're going to change" Republicans.  A lot of people are angry, many are indignant and quite a few are worried and weary about where November 3 will find us.  This and more will be discussed on tonight's show.
