Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #10: Showing Your Colors

No comments:
There are a lot of times when we can only guess at the intentions of others aren't exactly clear. In other cases, like those in the articles for this episode, the veil can thin or be lifted. We're going discuss these in this episode.

There has been an unexpected change for the podcast's presence in Second Life. We are getting more settled into our new home at Cheertopia as well as an outpost on the mainland in Ello. There have also been some delays on other initiatives as a more comprehensive plan is put in place for the show.

Front Porch Political Talk Episode 9: Forcing Their Opinions

No comments:
Another episode, another great conversation! We didn't agree on every issue and that's okay because we talked about the articles withot requiring everyone to be in lock-step. We spent a lot of time talking about Bitcoin and the regulation of that as well as how Planet Fitness might have caused some angst in its own customer base. Those weren't the only things on the agenda, so listen in to hear the whole show!

Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #9: Forcing Their Opinions

No comments:
When looking at the news there are times when it's painfully obvious that agendas and opinions are being pushed. In this episode we are focusing on articles that show this in a number of different ways.

There has been an unexpected change for the podcast's presence in Second Life. We say goodbye to Sunset River as the home of the Republican Party of SL and hello to a consolidated location on Cheertopia. Outside of SL we are also finalizing the options for folks to subscribe using either Patreon or Joyride. Articles for this episode:

Articles for Front Porch Political Talk #5: Making It Up

It's time for another example of real headlines that just can't be made up. We have fun with these from time to time but need to keep in mind that they represent the insanity that can exist today.

Episode 361: More Poor Choices

No comments:
I am not going to make the same poor choice I have for the past two episodes and think, "it's late, I'll post this later." We talked about some interesting poor decisions that have been made, some of them more than once. There were also some interesting tangents taken during the conversation. I swear I'm going to forward my emails to Joesf at some point in the future!

Articles for Episode 361: More Poor Choices

No comments:
I'll admit it, anyone can make poor choices. When you're in the political "eye" those bad ideas can and will come back to haunt you. In this episode we're going to look at some recent decisions that will be regretted… in some cases sooner rather than later! We also talked about these back in June of this year with Episode 338 (Poor Choices).

As mentioned on the show, we're going to be pushing our Facebook page more this year. We are also asking folks to support us by listening to the show on Red State Talk Radio or Stitcher.com. Articles for this episode:

Episode 349: Some People Need Help

No comments:
In contrast to last week's episode, this one hit on all cylinders and we were able to have a good, solid discussion about the various connotations to "needing help." These ranged from the "bless their heart" concept to legislative action to areas that truly do need a considered level of assistance.

We even started to talk about an article that was in the "extra reading" list (sorry about that, I couldn't continue on the nudist camp conversation) and brought up a local primary election for me that had me picking based on some very limited information.

Articles for Episode 349: Some People Need Help

No comments:
There are different connotations of the phrase, "need help." In this episode we're going to explore a few of those. We've got articles looking at outrageous statements, strange mandates and areas where assistance is truly needed. Keeping with the changes there's no "fun" opening article, things are too important this week and the absurd can sometimes get in the way.

Episode 347: Jumping the Shark

No comments:
We managed to talk about jumping the shark without doing so ourselves (unless you count the madlibs, I don't). It was fun but if you're Obama-sensitive you might want to turn away. There are a lot of interesting nuggets, including mentioning of an NPR story about the EU's regulation on vacuum cleaners and Happy Days.

For those of you who missed the MadLib during the recording, here are the results:
A recent scary poll shows that the majority of people are terrified of public governing.  They would rather walk across burning jacobites or swim in goat-infested waters than give a speech in front of nuns.  This hearty fear can be overcome in five easy voters:
1. Organize all of your gym teachers on a piece of plank.
2. Remember to start your speech with a funny Senator.
3. When speaking, look your audience straight in the feet and speak in a strong and stupid voice.
4. Be simple.  Never use damaged words that are over the audiences eyes.
5. Always keep a pitcher of mercury next to you, in case your shin goes dry.

Articles for Episode 347: Jumping the Shark

No comments:
The concept of Jumping the Shark is used when a production does something extraordinary in order to attract attention but instead signals its decline. The phrase came from the Happy Days episode in which Fonzie literally jumped a shark in a stunt.

These days, the term applies to almost anything and tonight we're going to look at politicians that have been doing an excellent job at it.

Episode 346: Teachable Moments

No comments:
We're a little late on posting the episode this week. No mad libs but a lot of fun talking about the teachable moments that appeared in articles from the past month or so.

I'll be posting the words for next week's Mad Lib on Wednesday or Thursday. You can be a part of the show by adding your words! The more we get the more interesting the results can be!

Articles for Episode 346: Teachable Moments

No comments:
In this episode we're going to focus on some teachable moments that have come up in the past few months. We're going back over a long period of time with these articles but they're still relevant today! No mad lib this week. Yes, some are disappointed but there were some personal items that prevented the proper execution of it this week.

Episode 345: Let's Just Talk

No comments:
This episode went better than planned. It didn't exactly follow the article list but we did talk about them. Two new things were introduced as well, the Mad Lib opening as well as the Constitutional Quiz Cards. Both worked well as a part of the show.

I'll be posting the words for next week's Mad Lib on Wednesday or Thursday. You can be a part of the show by adding your words! The more we get the more interesting the results can be!

Articles for Episode 329: Can't Want That

No comments:
One of the cutest things I've heard was my then 4 year old nephew say, "can't want that!" He was talking about a bad thing happening and he had the perfect answer for it. In this episode we're going to look at a number of different articles that would bring out the same response.

As an administrative note, I'm working on changing the way show notes, articles and episode posts are presented here on the site. It may be more advantageous to go back to having a single post per week with both the links to the articles as well as the audio file itself. I'd like to get some feedback before implementing this change so please let me know what you think by emailing conservativepodcast@gmail.com. Thank you!

Articles for this episode:
Some extracurricular reading for the week.

Episode 328: Say What?

No comments:
In another case of, "watch what you say," this episode was fun and informative!  As it turns out, there are many different scenarios where what is said does not match up with the actions or policies implemented.

Articles for Episode 328: Say What?

After we finished up last week's episode, a few of us stuck around and had a bit more of a conversation relating to a couple of the articles that didn't get a lot of attention. Some of those comments and some of the ideas shared are the basis for this episode.
