Episode 291: Getting Away With It

In this episode we talked about how elected officials, media outlets and others are, "getting away with it," when it comes to pushing their own agenda rather than doing what should be considered their jobs. From the Texas abortion law to the Justice Department/NSA and even Obama and the media regarding the George Zimmerman verdict and Stand Your Ground, they're still getting away with it!

We talk on this show every week about different topics, and it seems that there are recurring themes that the American Public just seems to let folks get away with. That's the subject for this episode. Articles for this episode:

On rare occasion a story will break that other outlets don't get a chance to talk about before we do. With the timing of the Zimmerman verdict, we actually have the opportunity to be ahead of the "big names" with our thoughts and comments/

In this episode we are going to look at the results of the case as well as a number of other stories that focus on the American justice system.

Articles for this episode:
There are some other stories that caught our eye this week. Had the timing been different they may have been the main discussion. They deserve our attention as well, unfortunately that attention will have to be relegated to the comments section. Here are some other reading suggestions:

I just realized that I didn't post last week's podcast to the website!  My apologies for the delay in getting this on the site.

In this episode, we talked about were the primaries and the incumbent seem to be projecting the path of our country, among other things.

As we continue down the path of the GOP primary season, there appears to be some rebuilding in Washington. Unfortunately there's also more breaking down. Tonight we're going to discuss some of the articles from the past week and look at where the primaries are going. Join us for the conversation at 8:30pm Eastern or listen to past episodes any time here on the website. Here are the articles for this episode:

Episode 213: Heating Up in the Winter

This episode gave us a good chance to step back and take a look at what campaigns are doing on both sides of the aisle. We talked about Obama's moves that, from our lens look like pure political steps as well as some of the things being said or done by GOP candidates. The only one we didn't have a story for was Mitt, who didn't really make any headlines this week.

There's a lot going on in the news with the election, and this episode gives us a time to look at some of the articles that epitomise what the statements being made that are heating up the primary and eventual general elections. There's so much to talk about we're skipping our normal opening article! Here are the articles lined up for the conversation. Remember, some times we don't even make it through all of these!
Here are the stories that we couldn't fit in the line-up tonight, including what was supposed to be our fun opening story.

Episode 212: Making Decisions

Episode 206: So Many Bad Ideas, So Little Time

Well folks, this time the show definitely did not go where it was originally planned!  Oh sure, we got through the opening article with all of its puns and groans, but after that, a completely different topic took center stage.  Luckily, it still falls in line with the "Bad idea" theme of the episode so the title didn't change.  Most everything else did.

Click Here to download the podcast, or listen using the Blubrry player (the blue ball on the right of the page).

We talked about Internet Censorship, specifically, HR 3261, otherwise known as the "Stop Online Piracy Act" which is currently before the House Judiciary Committee and is expected to pass Congress as written.

Episode 193: Claims and Ammunition

There were some technical issues with this episode that delayed it from being released. Regular listeners will notice a difference in the audio quality, turns out my system decided not to use the fancy mixer and reverted to the internal microphone on my laptop for the show. I've corrected that for next week!

Some times in battle, the best move is to wait for the opponent to either implode or for their members to turn on them when the game changes pace. Then again, sometimes you have to take a serious look at your own side. Tonight we talk about the ammo being provided by politicians from both sides, and the insanity or opportunity it represents.

This episode, like many others, didn't make it through all of the articles for the evening. There were some particularly good points raised, and Bachmann's "$2 Gas" coupled with comments I heard on Bob Brinker's Money Talk about an economist suggesting that an executive order forcing all new federal fleet vehicles to run on natural gas would have just about that impact made for some interesting conversation.

Episode 189: More Polls, More Candidates

There was a bit of post-production work that had to be put in to releasing this episode.  For those that were with us during the recording session, thank you for your patience and you'll note that not much actually got cut out in the edit.  Quite a fun show with a reference to a line from "Squonk the Apprentice" as released by EscapePod.

We also released news about an event in October being put on by our friends at Conservatives On the Move PAC!  Ken and I will be attending this event and podcasting for as much of it as we can.  There is the originally scheduled talk with Col. Oliver North as well as a scheduled GOP Presidential Candidate debate.  We will be releasing more information as it comes available.

    Episode 188: Reviving America

Our country is on a downward spiral no matter how you look at it. You can look at economics, social issues, foreign policy and even the way the media is reporting things and see desperation on the part of the left. In this episode we start looking at some of the contenders on the GOP side that are working hard to revive America.

Tonight was a fun show with a lot of audience input!  A special thank you to all of those who take the time to join us for our recording process!
