In today’s world, ignorance is never bliss. On tonight’s show we’re going to look at what I consider to be a few teachable moments. There are articles on civility, consumer censorship, common sense and current candidates.

We had a bit of a late start tonight due to some family issues but after we got the ball rolling it was a laugh a minute! The list of articles actually had to be shortened quite a bit to keep from running well over our normal time!

This past week has been a busy time, both in the US and across the country. While political leaders call for civility here, other countries are in the middle of tearing themselves apart.

Happy Independence Day, folks! Tonight's show features comment conversation and MUPPETS! Tonight we covered an array of topics and even hit on a couple of things that we didn't plan on! There was also a LOT of very good audience participation including some comments from a new listener and a phone call from Warpig. If you have to skip any parts of the show, make sure you listen to the last 5 minutes of the show as we used a slightly different closing audio clip in honor of the national holiday. We now have a discussion forum at RepublicanOperative.com that you can access it by going to http://www.republicanoperative.com/forums/ecc-podcast-episodes/. Also, our facebook page is up and running and of course we have our store at Printfection.com/eccstuff. Thank you for your continued support and participation with the show. Episode 51: Changing Course and Format but not Foundation

Tonight's show marks a change in the direction of the podcast. We are moving away from discussing news articles and leaving the campaigns alone. With the Obama victory, we as conservatives need to identify what we need to do to bring the Republican party back into power! In addition, we are going to examine the statements that are being made at change.gov and hold them up to the light. Tonight we brought in our new show format - we have decided based on traffic analysis and download counts that our audience wants to hear about conservative stances on issues! Our most popular shows by far have been those where we were talking about the issues, not when we were waxing eloquently about the failures or successes that were identified in the news. Each week, we will be taking about two or three main things. Tonight, we talked about the following things:
Tonight we wish Happy Birthday to Silverblade Dagger, one of our most dependable listeners in Second Life!

A really good show tonight - a technical glitch with Ken's phone dying out that prompted for some ad-libbing. We were also joined by Richard and Jayspari for parts of the call. Articles discussed in tonight's show:

Really fun night tonight, despite the threat of internet and power problems for Hatton. We covered a large range of topics and had a lot of fun doing it. We are still having problems with the mixer connecting so the opening was missing yet again. I have to mention our sponsor! You can even exchange movies in any Blockbuster store... all this for $19.99 a month! A very well attended show tonight, with Ron Skytower of the Conservative Matters Blog stopping in and Silverblade Dagger and Jayspari (both from Second Life) calling in and adding their opinions! As always we thank everyone for joining in the discussion on SecondLife as well as the Talkshoe chat room. We did have a small technical glitch - the mixer could not connect, so the normal intro isn't there! Also, we have to mention our sponsor! Tonight was another case where we had a lot of news to cover and not enough time to cover it! Some of that might have to do with the fact that we took the time to discuss the issues to a greater extent than usual - but that's a good thing in this case, as it appears that the Mainstream Media doesn't have the time in the 24 hour news cycle to discuss anything other than campaign styles and the financial crisis! Thankfully there were quite a few folks in the SecondLife chat room that helped Ken and I discuss things that I haven't heard about elsewhere. Tonight we introduce our first sponsor! We normally don't edit the show, as TalkShoe does a great job. Tonight, however, we fell victim to some technical difficulties and decided to find a way to kill the time. Here's what you didn't hear in Episode 44 at the end.

Episode 41a: Don't Paint Palin with Obama's Messianic Brush

A short comment that I wanted to put out this morning - Sarah Palin is great for this ticket and great for the McCain campaign, but let's be careful not to paint her as some kind of messiah like the Dems have done with Obama!

Oh, and for those who want text versions of the items quoted from Obama's speech: Here are the quotes that I agreed with:
"... go through the federal budget line by line, eliminating programs that no longer work and making the ones we do need work better and cost less, because we cannot meet 21st-century challenges with a 20th-century bureaucracy."
"Yes, we must provide more ladders to success for young men who fall into lives of crime and despair. But we must also admit that programs alone can't replace parents, that government can't turn off the television and make a child do her homework, that fathers must take more responsibility to provide love and guidance to their children."
And the ones that I took special issue with:
"We are the party of Roosevelt. We are the party of Kennedy. So don't tell me that Democrats won't defend this country. Don't tell me that Democrats won't keep us safe."
"[We are more compassionate than a government] that sits on its hands while a major American city drowns before our eyes."
"If you don't have a record to run on, then you paint your opponent as someone people should run from."
If you like the show, tell three friends! If you don't, make sure to come back next week where we'll have different words in a different order!
