Happy Independence Day, folks! Tonight's show features comment conversation and MUPPETS! Tonight we covered an array of topics and even hit on a couple of things that we didn't plan on! Episode 51: Changing Course and Format but not Foundation
Tonight's show marks a change in the direction of the podcast. We are moving away from discussing news articles and leaving the campaigns alone. With the Obama victory, we as conservatives need to identify what we need to do to bring the Republican party back into power! In addition, we are going to examine the statements that are being made at change.gov and hold them up to the light. Tonight we brought in our new show format - we have decided based on traffic analysis and download counts that our audience wants to hear about conservative stances on issues! Our most popular shows by far have been those where we were talking about the issues, not when we were waxing eloquently about the failures or successes that were identified in the news. Each week, we will be taking about two or three main things. Tonight, we talked about the following things:
- Conservatism and it's place in the Republican Party - McCain and the "moderates" have done a wonderful job screwing up the GOP, now it's time to rebuild it. I agree with Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council when he says, that conservatives need to take back control of the GOP if the party is to return to its winning ways..
- We reviewed the statement made by Mr. Obama regarding "National Service" and how he used this platform to sway many young Americans to support him by promising them a college education. We also mentioned the quote by Mr. Emanuel (Mr. Obama's Chief of Staff) in his new book, which identified that "Anyone between the ages of 18 and 25 would be compelled into public service". Where does this make things stand when we then look at the text of the 13th Amendment?

Episode 47: Sudan Investigates Bradley's Episcopal Rainbow Cub Comments
Tonight was another case where we had a lot of news to cover and not enough time to cover it! Some of that might have to do with the fact that we took the time to discuss the issues to a greater extent than usual - but that's a good thing in this case, as it appears that the Mainstream Media doesn't have the time in the 24 hour news cycle to discuss anything other than campaign styles and the financial crisis! Thankfully there were quite a few folks in the SecondLife chat room that helped Ken and I discuss things that I haven't heard about elsewhere. Tonight we introduce our first sponsor! Blockbuster's Total Access package give you access to over 85,000 titles that can arrive in your mailbox in as little as a day! A quote I found particularly important from McCain's speech:
"If you find faults with our country, make it a better one. If you're disappointed with the mistakes of government, join its ranks and work to correct them. Enlist in our Armed Forces. Become a teacher. Enter the ministry. Run for public office. Feed a hungry child. Teach an illiterate adult to read. Comfort the afflicted. Defend the rights of the oppressed. Our country will be the better, and you will be the happier. Because nothing brings greater happiness in life than to serve a cause greater than yourself." - Sen. John McCain - Transcript of Gov. Palin's speech
She had a few stingers to deliver, here were my favorites:
"I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a "community organizer," except that you have actual responsibilities."
"We tend to prefer candidates who don't talk about us one way in Scranton and another way in San Francisco."
"And there is much to like and admire about our opponent. But listening to him speak, it's easy to forget that this is a man who has authored two memoirs but not a single major law or reform - not even in the state senate." - Gov. Sarah Palin

Oh, and for those who want text versions of the items quoted from Obama's speech: Here are the quotes that I agreed with:"... go through the federal budget line by line, eliminating programs that no longer work and making the ones we do need work better and cost less, because we cannot meet 21st-century challenges with a 20th-century bureaucracy."And the ones that I took special issue with:
"Yes, we must provide more ladders to success for young men who fall into lives of crime and despair. But we must also admit that programs alone can't replace parents, that government can't turn off the television and make a child do her homework, that fathers must take more responsibility to provide love and guidance to their children."
"We are the party of Roosevelt. We are the party of Kennedy. So don't tell me that Democrats won't defend this country. Don't tell me that Democrats won't keep us safe."If you like the show, tell three friends! If you don't, make sure to come back next week where we'll have different words in a different order!
"[We are more compassionate than a government] that sits on its hands while a major American city drowns before our eyes."
"If you don't have a record to run on, then you paint your opponent as someone people should run from."
