Episode 266: Moves Toward Change

The concept for this episode was to discuss some of the things that were moving forward with the GOP and conservative ideas. We looked at the question, "is it enough?" The answer came back an underwhelming, "maybe."  There's a lot more to talk about but we're somewhat encouraged by Rep. Ryan's concept of, "pick your battles."  The important question is whether or not the Republican leadership will follow through with this.

We've gotten some responses from our product poll and are working on designs for coffee cups, mugs, bumper stickers, and other non-clothing type items. Look for a link to our new store to be online starting in February!

Things are beginning to change. We're not talking about Obama's change, either. The GOP seems to be taking some strides to becoming an effective party again, at least in some areas. Will they be enough? Let's talk about that and other things tonight at 8:30pm Eastern! Articles for this episode:
There are many other stories as well… not as many as last week, but they are still worth checking out!

We had an interesting time talking about some of the crazy things going on in the country, a good joke that gets ruined in translation to PG and actually made it through all of the articles this week!

I'm not sure if it's the holiday season, the weather or the pending doom of the Mayan calander. Either we're going crazy or it's the new normal. Tonight we're going to talk about fascinating stuff, though sometimes not fascinating in a good way. Here are the articles we've got to dissect:
Of course there's a lot more going on out there. Here's some more reading

The articles for this episode give examples of the supporters of the candidates and show the "love and kindness" in the heart of those on Obama's side of the ticket.  We had a good time talking about them and some of their ramifications.  My apologies go to any Madonna fans.  Ken didn't want to hear about it either.

It's also time for the 8th Annual People's Choice Podcast Awards nominations to start up!  During the nomination period there will be a banner linking to the nomination page.  I urge each and every listener to collect their 22 favorite podcasts (hopefully this is one of them) and nominate them for an award!  You have to hurry, though, as the nominations are only open from October 1st to October 15th and you can only cast one ballot.  We're asking for your nominations in the "Peoples Choice" and "Politics / News" categories.

With the emphasis in the last episode on staying positive, I thought this time we might take a look at some of the examples out there of supporters... and how they're supporting their chosen candidate. There are examples of both positive and negative support in the list.
There were a lot of articles out there from the past week. As I've explained on the show, we pick the ones that form a cohesive subject but include the rest for further reading. Take the time to peruse these, there's a whole lot more going on than we could cover in one episode!

For the last two weeks we have had round-table discussions about how news articles can be used by campaigns. Tonight we're going to look into the decisions that campaigns have made to move their candidates forward.

Episode 234: Spending, Taxing, Voting and Revenge

It's been another very busy week for me so getting the show posted was late - again.  Hopefully after things get a bit more settled in for the summer schedule we'll get back on track for posting the episodes.  The recording schedule is spot-on, every Sunday night at 8:30pm, and you can listen to episodes as they're being made... even be a part of them if you like!  Other distribution channels, such is iTunes and Red State Talk Radio, are updated on Sunday nights as well.

In this episode we had a ton of fun with special guest David Oatney, who called in and joined the chorus of call-in guests.  We had something of a round-table with the various issues and still managed to make folks chuckle here and there at the same time!

My apologies for how long it took to get the last episode posted!

Normally we don't repeat titles, but for this episode we are going to be continuing on the conversation from last week. We talked mostly about GOP candidates last time, now it's time to look at what's being said on the left.

Episode 173: Tinfoil Hat Optional

It’s about time for another episode of 'tin-foil alley,' where the hat is optional but the conspiracy theories are not!  While we generally get a good chuckle and shake our heads at those articles that seem a bit fantastical, we've got a few that may well ring true.  We start with mind control and pretty much move down-hill from there.

We had a lot of fun talking about subjects - both conspiratorial and not.  We even had an interruption by those pesky black helicopters a couple of times!  Camden in SecondLife was kind enough to create the Official East Coast Conservative Podcast Tinfoil Hat!

Episode 172: They Said It!

In this episode we repeated some things that other folks have said and discussed them.  Now, we do not necessarily going to agree with them, but what has been said deserves repeating, if nothing else so they can be taken as a warning of idiocy that can exist in the human mind!

This was a really fun episode that coined a new jibe, “We’ve got England, we’ve got France... we see Qaddafi’s underpants!” (or is that Kadafi... or maybe Gaddafi... I don’t know, neither do most editors, see this story for more examples).  Also, if you had problems listening to last week’s episode, please re-download.  There was a problem in the recording file for the first 24 hours or so.

Episode 171: Paying Attention to the Edges

It’s time again for us to look at the news stories that are being overshadowed by Japan, Lybia and the associated fallout.

Tonight was a fun show and an example of how Ken and I don’t always agree. We had fun talking about a number of different issues, pontificating the concepts of 2012 and got stuck on the concept of what to do about the Somali pirates.

Episode 168: You Said What?

Wow! I’ve heard some good ones before but the things I heard as I listened to the articles we’ve got lined up for this show made me do a double-take! We have to start out with some good Giffords news and then plow in to some rather meaty subjects on protests and policies.

Episode 167: It's Our Money

I've tried foks, really I have - I cannot find anything but news on the budget or protests... in some cases in the same stories! Tonight we're going to talk about the budget discussion and maneuvering that is going on this week. It's our money, let's talk about how they're trying to spend it.

The Tipping Point - We’ve Been Here Before

by SecondLife Author Shoramin Femto

Despots, revolutionaries, and tyrants often come from different beginnings. They commonly begin their rise disguised as reasonable and law-abiding patriots. Their visible goal is to fix or heal some of societies many wrongs. And it’s all a noble under taking, a holy enterprise, in the service of the people.

They form co-ops, unions, community organizations, even political movements. And, they do good, lots of it. Wells are dug, roads repaired, clinics started and political campaigns begun. And they have success. Their movements become a rising wave. Soon there are many more parades and demonstrations than clinics and roads but no one notices. Along the way, it’s OK if a few “malcontents” get hurt or drop off the screen. It’s all for the movement. It happened in this country in 1966 - 1972, Venezuela a few years ago, and many other places you can name.

In most cases people eventually become worried. “Did they really do that? Did he really say that? I don’t trust them anymore. We need to do something.” And the “Movement” senses that it is approaching a high-water-mark. Soon they will reach the peak and be able to go no further. It’s “The Magic Moment, The Tipping Point”. It’s the moment that they have long anticipated – a moment that many have longed for. It’s the moment that Marx and Mao predicted. It’s the moment when they no longer need to work within the law. Lawfulness has carried them as far as they can go. It’s time for the next phase. They take to the streets and violence becomes a warning and a tool.

It happened in 19681. Our country descended into chaos. After the leftist rout in 1966, they took to the streets in huge violent waves. The peak came in 1968. The time is well characterized in the deaths of Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert Kennedy, and the 1968 convention riots in Chicago. The insurgents continued their efforts through the Carter years. The struggle only subsided when President Reagan finally lead us out. Sadly, it usually goes the other way. Instead of the defeat they found in 1980s America, they have recently succeeded grandly in Venezuela and the American 2008 election.

The current batch of American revolutionaries will reach their high-water-mark, their “Magic Moment”, this November. They will know that they cannot progress farther while staying marginally within the law. They have already begun the debate among themselves on what to do when the electorate turns against them once again. Some will want to return to 1968 or much worse. Others will counsel patience. They will want to wait for a better time. They will suggest waiting until 2012.

George Soros is now aiming past the 2010 elections and pumping millions into his propaganda outlets2. Juan Williams is swept aside to make room for Soros’ more radical voices. All this is now aimed at the all-holds-off struggle over the next two years.

America needs to prepare for the coming lawlessness achieving new heights. The SEIU and their ilk will no longer be fettered. Those who have waited desperately for the moment of violence will not be denied much longer. We will see a replay of the battles of the 60’s. Unless prepared, we cannot assume the same happy result.

What’s Left to Say?

by SecondLife Author Shoramin Femto
Obama and his team of carefully selected insurgents have been inspected, commented, identified, and revealed. He and they have few secrets left to hide. Their agenda is clear. It is nothing less than the gutting and abandonment of the Constitution; all this in the service of the destruction of the capitalist system. Numerous commentators have explored the implications and pointed their fingers. The only remaining support outside
their revolutionary movement lies with those who share that agenda, most of the media and the entitlement generation.

During the final stretch of this election season, we must repeat the warnings and their unveiled comments and actions constantly. On election day, no one must allowed to forget things like the Mao ornaments on the White House Christmas tree, Van Jones, ACORN, and the SEIU and Black Panther thugs; all endorsed and supported by AG Holder and the White House. But ... is there anything new to say? It seems that Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh have fully exhausted the subject of the left’s evil intentions?

So, besides ensuring that no one can forget as they vote in November, what else should we be doing? I’m afraid that we are playing chess one move at a time without looking ahead. We are generals who only plan for victories with no thought to what comes after. (Think Iraq, Rumsfeld, and Tommy Franks here.) We should seriously and publically be thinking about what to do if the right a) Takes both houses of congress, b) takes just the House of Representatives, c) gets its ass kicked again.

We should be making a list and checking it twice. What are the major problems? What should be our goals? What is within our reach? What should come first? So let’s start with the list. Here are my choices for the top.

The United Nations: This is the most pressing problem we have. We should assume an observer status only and stop all funding until it rectifies its many problems. Congress has the power to do this through its checkbook. If the UN doesn’t correct itself over the next two years, the next administration should leave the UN entirely and insist that they move the damn thing to Geneva or Mecca.

Iran: We should take out their nuclear capability completely using what ever means the job requires (Boots and bombs). When they have the A-Bomb, they will use it. Remember, they are insane. Next we should aggressively persuade Iran’s client states (Syria, Lebanon, and Afghanistan) that they have made a very bad choice. I doubt that Obama has the balls or inclination but congress should go on record supporting any nation that undertakes these actions.

Energy: We should place a substantial import tax on all imported energy ($30.00 a barrel sounds right). This will encourage domestic production and drive international prices down. Our costs will rise only slightly. All generated revenues should be invested into rapidly building nuclear plants based on Traveling Wave Technology. This construction should proceed as a national emergency and be managed as a critical defense project. No preference to union labor should be allowed. Obstructing construction in any way should be a serious felony resulting in long prison terms. Again, congress has the power to do this.

Labor/Management Relations: We should pass a national Right-to-Work law making all union membership optional. Coercion to join or not to join unions should be made a serious felony resulting in long prison terms. This too is within the power of congress.

That’s my list. Clearly there are other things in need of attention. But these have the shortest fuse in my opinion. Note I did not include the economy. My suggestion… leave it alone do nothing. We’ve screwed it up enough.

Lastly, all these plans MUST include effective and firm responses for when the world (Friends and enemies) try to thwart us or dissuade us. In many cases our response should be to just ignore them. But we should be prepared for very serious countering moves that will cost us severely. We should be prepared to pay for our own lunch and to retaliate in Kind. For example, what should happen if the left stages a general strike and most unions comply? What should we do if Iran blows up the Vatican or invades Iraq? What should be our response when/if Saudi Arabia unleashes jihad from its radical mosques planted in the US to punish us for loss of oil revenues? All these scenarios must be fleshed out and understood. And we should make plans several
moves ahead that do not include caving, apologizing, or surrendering.

Episode 131: Striking Stories of Strikes and Unions

We've minced, we've visited Wonderland and we weren't surprised when things happened as promised. Tonight, we've got some striking news about a wide variety of things, starting at the Final Frontier and even less stable space cases.

Tonight was a very fun show! Ken and I managed to get the word "poop" in before the 5 minute mark and a couple of articles were added during the show itself. We had a lively audience in SecondLife and TalkShoe both. Additionally, I was able to get into SecondLife through AjaxLife again.

We're also opening up the show to user submissions! If you have a news article you want to send us, you can share it with us via email to conservativepodcast@gmail.com or post it on our Facebook page.

Episode 126: State of Insanity

That's it! We no longer live in the United States or in New York or Florida - we live in the State of Insanity. Well, okay, Hatton more-so than Ken but it's still a mad, mad world! In tonight's show we've got articles giving examples of insanity all over the place, from local police to administrative attentions.

The show appeared to be somewhat New York centric with most of the insanity either occurring in or initiating from the Empire state. We also closed with a quick review and commentary on a blog entry by the "Socialist Party of New York" that spells out where socialists think America should go. As I read this and looked at the news I can see even more clearly how the changes that the libs are trying to push are leading the nation down that path.
